Planning your U.S. Green Card through EB-5? Then one question should be discussed at the family table now: why should your family pay higher government filing fees if the preparation can begin today?
The eb5 visa cost conversation in 2026 is not only about the investment amount. It is also about timing. A final Department of Homeland Security rule published in the Federal Register says the new EB-5 fees apply from November 30, 2026, and any filing postmarked on or after that date must carry the new fees.
For an Indian investor, parent, H-1B professional, or business family already serious about EB-5, this is not a small paperwork update. The initial regional center investor filing cost can move from $4,675 to $8,950 when the I-526E filing fee and Integrity Fund fee are read together. That is a $4,275 difference before you even discuss project fees, legal fees, or family remittance planning.
What Is Changing in eb5 visa cost From November 30, 2026?
Before a family compares projects, it must know which costs are government fees and which costs are investment capital. The confirmed Federal Register final rule changes EB-5 government filing fees from November 30, 2026. It does not, by itself, change the EB-5 investment threshold.
In this Acquest video, Paresh explains why EB-5 investors should pay attention to the November 30 fee change before waiting too long.
The Simple Before and After for EB-5 Filing Fees 2026
For a family, the clean way to read the EB-5 USCIS fee increase is not as a policy table. Read it as money that leaves your account because the filing date moved.
| Fee item | Current | From November 30, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Initial Form I-526E filing fee | $3,675 | $7,850 |
| I-526E Integrity Fund fee | $1,000 | $1,100 |
| Initial I-526E plus Integrity Fund | $4,675 | $8,950 |
| Form I-829 filing fee at the later Green Card stage | $3,750 | $5,000 |
The $75 EB-5 technology fee is already included in the new $7,850 I-526E figure in the final rule. Families should not add it again. The separate official PDF version of the rule also shows the current and final fee table.
How Much More Could an EB-5 Investor Pay?
If your family is already planning EB-5, the extra $4,275 is not the largest amount in the journey. But that is exactly the point. When the Green Card goal is the same, why allow a government filing cost to rise simply because the family started late?
The EB-5 November 30 deadline matters because source of funds work takes time. Source of funds means proving where the investment money came from and showing its path through bank records, tax documents, business income, property sale papers, gifts, loans, or investments. For Indian families, that file often decides how quickly the attorney can safely file.
The later I-829 fee also deserves attention. I-829 is the stage where the family asks USCIS to remove conditions from permanent residence after meeting the EB-5 requirements. That cost comes later, but a serious EB-5 green card cost discussion should include it.
EB-5 Investment Amount vs Government Filing Fees
This is where many families mix up two different numbers. The eb5 investment amount is the capital that goes into the qualifying U.S. business or regional center project. The government filing fee is what USCIS charges to process the petition.
The same Federal Register rule explains the EB-5 program as requiring at least $1,050,000, or $800,000 in a targeted employment area, called a TEA, or infrastructure project. A TEA means a qualifying rural or high-unemployment area. The investment must also create at least 10 full-time U.S. jobs.
So, if a family asks, “Is EB-5 becoming more expensive on November 30?” the precise answer is this: the filing fees are increasing. The investment threshold is a separate question and should be reviewed separately from this fee rule.
Why Starting Your EB-5 Preparation Now Matters
In consultation, I would not tell a family to rush blindly. A weak project or weak money file is never made better by speed. But I would tell a serious family not to wait casually.
For Indian investors, preparation usually means checking eligibility, mapping source of funds, planning FEMA and Liberalised Remittance Scheme steps with Indian professionals, comparing project options, and coordinating with U.S. immigration counsel. FEMA is India’s foreign exchange law framework. LRS is the Reserve Bank of India route for overseas remittance within prescribed limits.
This is why early planning is a financial decision, not only an immigration decision. If EB-5 is already part of your family’s plan, November 30 should push the file from “we are thinking” to “we are reviewing documents.”
How Can Investors Prepare Before November 30?
Start with the family facts. Who is the investor? Where will the investment money come from? Can the family prove each major source clearly? Is the child close to aging out of dependent eligibility? Is the family comparing rural, high-unemployment, or other project options?
Then build a realistic filing schedule. It should include source of funds review, legal review, project due diligence, remittance planning, subscription documents, and USCIS filing preparation. The I-526E filing fee is only one line item, but it is the line item with a confirmed November 30 change.

Planning EB-5 for your family?
Source of Funds, project selection, and filing timing all interact. Acquest can help you understand where your family stands before the November 30 fee change.
Your EB-5 Plans Deserve Action Before Costs Rise
The eb5 visa cost decision is not only a number on a government form. It is a family timeline. If your child is studying in the U.S., if your H-1B path feels uncertain, or if your family has already decided that a U.S. Green Card is part of the next chapter, the cost of waiting has now become more visible.
November 30, 2026 is not a reason to panic. It is a reason to prepare properly, so the family is not paying more later for the same Green Card goal.

FAQ
When do the new EB-5 fees apply?
The new EB-5 fees apply to applications, petitions, or requests postmarked on or after November 30, 2026. Families preparing now should build a filing schedule with their immigration attorney instead of assuming the final week is enough.
How much is the I-526E filing fee from November 30, 2026?
The initial Form I-526E filing fee becomes $7,850 from November 30, 2026, and that figure already includes the $75 technology fee. The separate I-526E Integrity Fund fee increases from $1,000 to $1,100.
Is the EB-5 investment amount increasing on November 30?
No. The November 30 rule changes EB-5 filing fees, not the investment threshold itself. The $800,000 qualifying TEA or infrastructure investment and $1,050,000 standard investment should be discussed separately from the government fee increase.
